Poor Training Leads to Dreadful Show in CTET
While almost 70 per cent of graduate teacher training
institutes in Chennai, whose students attempted the Central Teachers Eligibility
Test (CTET) scored zilch, the performance of diploma holders was worse,
according to data compiled by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
The results of diploma-holding aspirants trained by these
institutes were dismal, with none of them in Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchy
clearing the exam and just one aspirant from Chennai cracking paper 2. Taking
their performance in paper 1 into account, Chennai had 7 per cent of the
institutions producing successful candidates. Other districts have produced
similar results. With institutes registering less than satisfactory results,
should there be a change in the training methodology in these institutes?
